Spooky Sunday

Okay, so it's Monday. Still spooky!

Last night Sam and I went to Knott's Scary Farm Halloween Haunt! We went last year as well and it's so much fun, it always puts me in the Halloween spirit! The main attraction are the mazes, creepily decorated and full of monster types that jump out and scare you. They also have monsters/creatures roaming the park, which is eerily lit and full of smoky fog. It is not an environment conducive to picture taking, but I did get this good pic of the Gypsy Camp.

Now, for one of my favorite spooky stories. This is a true story, told to my by my friend L* about her mother (*I am changing the names). When L's mother was a child growing up in Mexico, they moved to an area that was known to have gold buried on many properties. The residents would rather bury their money than keep it in the house, and most of the families knew where their money was hidden. L's mother, we'll call her Carmen, and her sister Letty shared a room. After they moved in Letty developed the habit of walking in her sleep, so their mother asked Carmen to follow her, to make sure she wouldn't get hurt, (because, as you know, you're not supposed to wake a person who is sleepwalking). One night Carmen noticed that Letty was talking in her sleep, and the next morning asked her what she dreamed of. Letty said that an old man came and woke her every night and asked her to follow him. He eventually led her outside to a tree on top of the hill in their backyard. He told Letty that his families money was buried there, next to the tree, but he died before he could tell his daughter where it was. If the girls dug the money up, they could have half, if they gave the rest to his daughter. The girls were young and frightened; they told their mother and she laughed and told them to start digging, but they were too afraid. Eventually Carmen's family moved to another town, and she almost forgot about her sisters dream. Not long after moving, Carmen heard the news from a friend in the old neighborhood. The family who had bought their house was doing work in the yard and decided to pull out the tree on top of the hill. When they did, they found the money the old man had buried.

Your story just gave me the chills. Cool!
And that spooky Knott's Berry Farm night sounds fun!!
We have a local farm that does a huge haunted corn 'maize' every year, but I'm too chicken to go at night. I'm a sucker for the cheap scares - they always freak me out way more than they should.
